Pairing connects one parent device to one child device so alarms can be sent between them. It takes under a minute and only needs to be done once.
The steps
- On the child’s phone, open the app to show a QR code and a six-character backup code.
- On the parent’s phone, scan the QR code, or enter the six-character code manually if scanning is not convenient.
- Review the child-data notice — a short explanation of what pairing involves — and confirm you have the authority to set this up for the child.
- Confirm, and the connection completes on both devices immediately.
What happens to the QR scan
The camera is used only to read the QR code during pairing. Frames are not stored or uploaded, and the camera is not used again afterward for anything else in the app.
If pairing does not complete
Most failed pairing attempts come down to an expired code (they are time-limited — generate a fresh one on the child device if it has been open a while) or a network interruption during the confirmation step.
