FAQ

Questions families ask before setup.

Practical answers for parents setting expectations before using remote wake-up reminders.

Does the alarm ring when the phone is on silent?

Yes. The alarm plays on the device alarm channel rather than the ringer, so silent mode does not mute it: on iOS it uses the playback audio session, which ignores the mute switch, and on Android it uses the alarm stream, which silent mode does not affect. Other settings can still stop an alarm from arriving or being heard, including Focus or Do Not Disturb, battery optimisation, revoked notification permissions, manufacturer restrictions, and connectivity. Families should test the setup on their own devices and keep a backup routine.

Can a parent send an alarm remotely?

A paired parent can request a wake-up alarm for a child device after setup is complete. Delivery and behavior depend on connectivity, permissions, device state, and platform settings.

How does pairing work?

The child phone shows a QR code and a six-character code. An authenticated parent scans the QR code or enters it manually, reviews the child-data notice, confirms authority, and completes the connection. QR camera frames stay on the parent phone and are not stored or uploaded.

What permissions or settings are needed?

WakeKids may need notification permissions and device settings that allow alerts to appear at the right time. Some system settings can limit alarms or notifications even after permission is granted.

Does WakeKids confirm that someone is awake?

No. WakeKids records when the wake screen is acknowledged and can notify the parent. That acknowledgement reflects app interaction only and is not proof that the child is awake, safe, healthy, supervised, or at a particular location.

What information does WakeKids collect?

WakeKids collects limited parent account, child setup and pairing, alarm, security, and push-delivery data. For WakeKids Plus, RevenueCat processes parent purchase and entitlement data. Netlify processes information submitted through the website contact and privacy-request forms. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can families delete their information?

WakeKids supports account deletion in the app where available and provides a web form to request deletion. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, store, or operational reasons. Deleting an account does not cancel a Google Play or Apple App Store subscription.

Does deleting my account cancel WakeKids Plus?

No. Account deletion, app uninstall, child disconnection, or RevenueCat customer deletion does not cancel store billing. Cancel the subscription separately in Google Play or the Apple App Store if you do not want it to renew.

Is WakeKids for emergencies?

No. WakeKids is not an emergency service, monitoring service, or substitute for supervision. Families should use appropriate emergency channels and backup plans when timely response matters.

Review WakeKids safety expectations.

WakeKids is for family convenience. Setup, device state, permissions, and backup routines still matter.
