A wake-up schedule only works if it is set once and left alone. Here is a plain starting template — adjust the times to your own school start and commute, then stop touching it.
The template
- Monday–Friday, primary alarm: set 45–60 minutes before you need to leave the house.
- Monday–Friday, backup alarm: 10–15 minutes after the primary, only if there is no acknowledgement.
- One fixed "leave by" time that does not move regardless of how the morning is going.
- Saturday and Sunday: off, or shifted at least an hour later — a routine that never rests tends to get resented and skipped.
Turning it into a standing routine
The template only helps if it stops being a daily decision. In WakeKids Plus, a weekly schedule runs automatically once set — no one has to remember to arm an alarm the night before, and a one-off "Wake Now" trigger stays available for the mornings that do not fit the pattern (an early appointment, a delayed start, a missed first alarm).
Adjust, then leave it
Revisit the template only when something structural changes — a new school year, a new commute, a shift in bedtime. Otherwise, resist the urge to fine-tune it weekly; consistency is most of what makes a wake-up schedule work in the first place.
